User Guide to Using the Linux Desktop

Note: The United Nations prepared this guide under a developmental program for Asia and the Pacific Rim. The authors have made attributions below their names. We added it to our community web site because it provides an excellent introduction to Linux. The primary format of the material covers the Gnome desktop. As an aside, an appendix provides an introduction to KDE.

This material comes free and can be redistributed. We have provided links to the pdf files as noted below. You can download the entire collection in a single tar.gz file below. The screenshots consist of images taken from the Fedora desktop under gnome. They are close enough that JDS users can benefit from them.

This is not a copy of Exploring the JDS Linux Desktop from O'Reilly.
